About | Lillian Alice Brown Nelson Harper, 95, of Piketon, died July 17, 2016, in the S.O.M.C. Hospice Center in Portsmouth. Affectionately known as "Biddy" by her family and friends, she was born in Champaign County, Ohio on Oct. 23, 1920, to the late Stacy and Irma Cutler Brown. Biddy was married to the late Merle E. Nelson on June 28, 1942, and they were married for 25 years. She was married to the late Robert E. Harper on Feb. 7, 1975, and they were married for 32 years. She was a former member of the Piketon Methodist Church and a present member of the Piketon Church of Christ. Biddy was a former Sunday School teacher, MYF, 4-H, and Girl Scout leader, Piketon Rebekah Lodge member, Pike County Democrat Ladies Club member, and was known by many as the "Birthday Card Lady." She was a retired Piketon Post Office employee. She is survived by her children: James E. (Linda) Nelson, Piketon, Alice Nelson (Gary) Kidwell, Vanceburg, KY, Robert E. (Margaret) Harper, Tram, KY, and Rosemary Harper (David) Yates of Oak Hill. There are 13 grandchildren: Merle (Mandy) Kidwell, Stacy Kidwell, Tai (Keith) Hieneman, John Nelson, Jamie (Jeff) Davis, James E. (Kim) Nelson, Brad (Becky) Poe, Shayne (Joy) Poe, Melinda (David) Armstrong, Matthew Harper, Graig Harper, Stoney (Lisa) Harper, Micah (Stephanie) Harper. Also 20 great-grandchildren: Carson, Kate, and Selah Kidwell, Alex Kidwell, Claire Hieneman, Trey and Rilee Davis, Dana Nelson, Gabe Nelson, Emily (Seth) Williamson, Lydia Poe, Sydney and Lauren Poe, Emerson Armstrong, Mason Harper, Shaeleigh and Luke Harper, Steven, Cortney, Jordan, and Eric Harper. Two nieces, Linda Brown and Susan (John) Huffman and a nephew, John (Mary Ann) Nelson. She was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles C. and Opal Brown, and a daughter-in-law, Ardith Harper. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at the Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home, Piketon, Ohio, with Robert S. Harper and Dean Manning, Ministers, officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Piketon, Ohio. Friends may call at the Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Piketon Church of Christ and S.O.M.C. Hospice Care. |
