About | Lonnie Scott Van Dyke, 36, of Piketon, died unexpectedly on the morning of Friday, September 29 at his residence. He was born on October 25, 1963 in Dayton and is the son of Lonnie Van Dyke of Troy and Dora Lee Stevens Smith of Piketon. Surviving are his wife, Diane Sheets Van Dyke, whom he married on May 15, 1982; one son, Jacob Van Dyke of Augusta, Georgia; one daughter, Rachel Johnson of North Augusta, South Carolina; his grandmother, Edna VanDyke of Waverly; two brothers, Phillip Van Dyke of Waverly and Mark VanDyke of Piketon; one sister, Rhonda Wells of Vancouver, Washington; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was a carpenter, a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local #372 in Lima, a member of F.O.E. in Lima, a member of the Victory Baptist Church in North Augusta, South Carolina and served for 10 years in the U,S, Army. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 3 at the Outreach Ministries Church on Big Bear Creek Road with Elmer Stevens officiating. Burial followed in the Rushtown Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by American Legion William A. Baker Post #363 of Lucasville.
