| About | Pike County News-Watchman (Waverly, OH) - Wednesday, October 14, 2009 Mary Elizabeth Smith, 79, of Smokey Hollow Rd., Pike-ton, Ohio died 2:36 a.m. Saturday October 10, 2009 at Adena Regional Medical Center, in Chillicothe, Ohio. She was born February 27, 1930 in Jasper, Ohio, daughter of the late George Ellenburg and Freda Mae Davis Ellenburg. On December 11, 1948 Mary was united in marriage to Albert E. Smith who preceded her in death on February 14, 1969. Surviving are four children: Rita L. Roberts and husband James of Lucasville, Ohio, Jeffrey P. Smith of Piketon, Cheryl Shaw and husband Keith of Piketon and Douglas A. Smith and wife Amy of Waverly, Ohio; nine grandchildren: Matthew Smith and wife Aimee, James A. "Andy" Roberts and wife Lisa, Aaron Roberts and wife Jennifer, Andrea & Robert J. Smith, Abby & Ally Shaw and Connor & Laken Smith; ten great grandchildren: Zoiee & Creed, Mason & Grayson, Christian & McKaylee, Caden & Ashlyn and Kaitlin & MaKenna; a brother: James E. Ellenburg of South Salem, Ohio and a sister: Anna Eleanor Ellenburg Penn of Otway, Ohio. In addition to her parents and husband, a son, Gregory W. Smith preceded Mary in death. Mary was a retired Library Aide at Jasper Elementary School for the Scioto Valley Local Schools in Pike County with 26 years of service. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home, Piketon with Paul F. Hornback officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Piketon. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday. www.boyerfuneral.com |
