About Michael Paul Henry, age 30, of Apex, North Carolina, formerly of Jasper, Ohio, died 3:30 P.M. Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Kerr Lake near Henderson, North Carolina. He was born March 3, 1974 in Chillicothe, Ohio, to Charles Stephen and Charlene G. Henry of Jasper Road, Piketon, Ohio, who survive. Also surviving are his sister, Stephanie (Jarrod) Dresbach, nephews, Isaiah and Jacob, and niece Lydia, of Higby Road, Chillicothe, Ohio. Michael is the grandson of Stanley and Zelma McNelly of Elm Grove, Ohio, and the late Paul and Geneva Henry of Piketon, Ohio. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was an active member of the Carey, North Carolina Church of Christ and the Elm Grove Church of Christ where he was baptized on August 22, 1985.
Michael graduated from Piketon High School in 1992 and recieved his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Computer Engineering from Shawnee State University in 1996.
He began his employment in 1996 with Nationwide Insurance Company as a Computer Analyst, also working for Mill’s Pride and the Mead Corperation before beginning his career in 1999 with Triangle Transit Authority for the city of Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina where he served as a Systems Administrator in the I.T. Department.
Michael was raised in a loving Christian home with his mother, father, and sister. He loved the Lord and he loved his family with all his heart. He was a great Christian example to all who knew him.
He loved hunting and fishing with his father from the time he was just a young boy. He was an avid bass angler competing in many B.F.L. (Bass Fisherman’s League) Tournaments throughout the U.S.A.
He was also a member of the C.F.L. (Christian Fisherman’s League) where he was competing in a tournament at Kerr Lake, North Carolina on June 19, 2004 when he was stricken with a fatal heat stroke, doing what he loved to do.
Michael was indeed a very special young man and he will be sadly missed by his family and everyone whose life he touched.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday at the Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly, with Darrell Pinkerton and Ronnie Wheeler, Ministers, officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery in Piketon, Ohio. Friends may call from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
