| About | Pike County News-Watchman (Waverly, OH) - Sunday, May 15, 2011 Paul Eugene Smith, 68, of East Second Street, Piketon, Ohio, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Pleasant Hill Manor in Piketon. He was born September 17, 1942 in Greenfield, Ohio, son of the late Kenneth Z. Smith and Martha E. Mustard Smith. On May 16, 1970, Paul was united in marriage to Ruth Marie Jennings Smith, who survives. Also surviving two sons, Mark Allen Smith of Urbana, Ohio, Paul Edward Smith of Peebles, Ohio; two step children, Sherry Gott of Piketon, Michael Todd Smith of Richmondale, Ohio; four grandchildren, Miranda Smith, Sarah Smith, Dane Gott and Carlee Gott; three great grandchildren, Skye, Star and Julia Dade Smith, as well as two brothers, David L. Smith of Leander, Texas and Albert L. Smith of Chillicothe, Ohio. In addition to his parents and infant brother, Leroy Smith preceded Paul in death. Paul was a retired Corrections Officer for Chillicothe Correctional Institution, a member of the Orient Lodge #321, F. & A.M., Waverly and a member of the Pike County Shrine Club. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the HOWE WHEELER BOYER HORNBACK FUNERAL HOME in Piketon with Pastor Alan Newberry officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Piketon. Friends may call at the funeral home 4 - 8 p.m. Saturday and from noon until the service on Sunday.
