About | Phillip A. Eckels - d. June 7, 1971 Traffic Crash Kill’s Son of Piketon Resident Injuries received proved fatal early Monday to the son of Rt. 1, Piketon woman, and his wife was severely injured when the motorcycle they were riding was struck by a car in Milford at 1:35 p.m. Sunday. The crash victim, Philip Alan Eckels, 23, of Cincinnati, died at 1:10 am Monday in our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Marlemont, where his wife Judy, was reported to be improving from injuries sustained according to hospital records. The couple had been visiting friends and relatives in Pike County, and were on their way home, west on US Rt 50 through Milford when the fatal mishap occurred. Philip Alan Eckels, a son of Arthur and Pauline (Lawter) Eckels. He was preceded in death by his father about two years ago. On April 25, 1970, he married the former Judy Robinson. In addition to his mother, Mrs. Pauline Eckels, of Rt. 1, Piketon, surviving are his wife, Judy; three brothers, Dennis Eckels of Piketon, and Johnny and Steve Eckels, both of Rt. 1Piketon ; two sisters, Mrs. Merry Jo Castle of Columbus and Mrs. Susan Kay Egerton of Minford. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 qm Thursday at St. Mary’s Church in Waverly, with Father Jerome K. Raiser, officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery in Piketon under the direction of the Howe Co. Funeral Home there. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 pm Wednesday. June 10, 1971 Waverly Watchman |
