Robert Cutler Willson, , 92 of Truesdell Street, Jasper died Saturday at Pike Community Hospital. He was born May 7, 1907 in Jasper the son of the late George Albert Willson and Mabel (Cutler) Willson. He attended Jasper Elementary, graduated from Piketon High School in 1925, furthered his education by attending the Pike County Normal School for one year, and graduated from Wilmington College. He retired in 1968 after 42 years as a respected and successful teacher, coach and principal. He started his teaching career at a one-room school on Meadow Run in Pike County followed by other positions at Bethel, Pike County, Milford, Latham Western, Wakefield and Piketon High School. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army from 1942-1945 and was a life-long member of the Jasper and Piketon-Jasper United Methodist Churches. He is survived by his wife: Donna Madge (Cool) Willson whom he married June 24, 1939; two sons: Keith (Sally Willson of Jasper and Earl (Cyndie) Willson of Minford; four grandchildren: Beth (Ed) Alexander, Cristi (Scott) Thompson, Thomas R. Willson, and Taryn Willson; one great grandson: Tyler Willson Lambert. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Howe -Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home in Piketon with Rev. Alan Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery. Visitation was held 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the service hour on Wednesday. |
