About | Robert Ralph Douthitt died August 11, 2015, in Knoxville, TN at the age of 75. He was born in Pike County, OH on February 21, 1940 to Margaret Underwood Douthitt and Guy O'Donnell Douthitt. Robert attended Piketon High School, Piketon graduating in 1958. He joined the army in 1962 and served for 3 years. He was deployed to Thailand and he loved telling stories about his time spent there. After being honorably discharged from the army he had a long career as an electrician with Custom Coach in Columbus, Ohio until retired. He lived almost his entire life on his 60 acre family farm in Pike County, OH. He was an avid bowler in his younger years and always loved animals, especially cats. He treated his beloved cats like children. Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Douthitt Templeman (Donald). He is survived by his sister Joan Douthitt Templeman (Ray). He was an uncommonly kind and gentle soul. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home in Piketon, OH with Pastor Terry Lawson, officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery with graveside military services being conducted by the American Legion Merritt Post #142, Waverly, Ohio.
