| About | Roger Dale Ross 58 of Happy Hollow Road, Piketon, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 7, 2006 in Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe, Ohio. Roger was born September 10, 1947 in Vinton County, Ohio, a son of the late Roy E. Ross and Mazel (Adkins) Ross of Piketon. He was a 1965 graduate of Piketon High School. In October of 1966 he joined the USAF where he served as a Aircraft Mechanic, on the J43151 C Jet. During his tour in Japan Roger became acquainted with a special military family and on December 4, 1959 in Tokyo, Japan he married Joanne La Bar who became his wife of 36 years. In 1978 Roger became an employee of GE Peebles Test Operations where he retired in 2000. During his tenure of employment he served as mechanic and cell owner at the test sites and planner production specialist at the preparation building. Roger was baptized February 18, 1989 and became a member of the Happy Hollow Church of Christ where he was ordained as Deacon February 16, l991. Survivors include his wife Joanne (La Bar) Ross of Piketon, son Roger Dale Ross II (Sonya) of Branchland, WV, 2 daughters; Julie (Chad) Blanton, Laurie (Jason) Maloy both of Piketon, mother; Mazel Ross of Piketon, 4 brothers; Charley (Rinda) Ross, Blaine (Jeannie) Ross, Patrick (Shelly) Ross all of Piketon, Galen (Pamela) Ross of Beaver, 1 sister; Cheryl (David) Cox of Beaver, 4 grandchildren; Colton Blanton, Lexi Ross, Isaac and Alicyn Ross. Roger was preceded in death by a son; Arron Ross and his Dad, Roy E. Ross. Funeral services were held Friday February 10, 2006 at the Waverly Church of Christ, (David Rd.) with Elder Daniel Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Piketon. Military rites provided by Wright Patterson Air Force Honor Guards and American Legion Post 9942 of Waverly. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cox Funeral Home, Beaver with Don Anderson of Greenfield assisting the family. Community Common 2/12/06 |
