| About | Thomas L. Pettit, age 66 of Collinsville, Illinois died Tuesday January 1, 2013 at his residence. He was born October 14, 1946 in Portsmouth, Ohio to George E. and Eleanor Shy Pettit. He was a National Merit Scholar from Piketon High School and graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He had a long career as a teacher and his last position was as Professor of Computer Science at the Southwestern Illinois College. He was a member of Piketon-Jasper United Methodist Church. Tom is survived by his loving wife and friend, Linda Sue Durigg Pettit, whom he married on March 2, 1973, and a brother, George P. Pettit, of Portsmouth.. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday January 7, 2013 at the Piketon-Jasper United Methodist Church with Rev. Vernagaye Sullivan officiating. Friends may call Monday at the church from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. Burial follow in the Mound Cemetery, Piketon, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Tom's name.
