About | Willard “Bill” Hays, 66, of Zanesville, born March 7, 1941, in Wakefield, Ohio, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, after a short stay at Morrison House Hospice in Zanesville, Ohio. He was the son of Okey and Dorothy Brooks Hays. He retired from Western/Southern Life Insurance and Airborne Express. He was an alumni of Piketon High School, and he belonged to Sons of the American Legion Post 29 and F.O.E. Aerie 302 in Zanesville, Ohio. He is survived by a son, Jeff (Alice) Hays of Cumberland; and a daughter, Kelli (Troy) Vandagriff of Zanesville; siblings, Charles (Linda) Hays of Wakefield, Ohio, Susie Zaler of Lucasville, Ohio, and Pat Kamer of Quincy, Ky. He also leaves three grandsons, David Hays, and Justin and Seth Vandagriff; three granddaughters, Jennifer Hays, Nikita Hays and Kimberly Vandagriff; and one great-grandson, Makai Hays; and special friend, Sandra Groves. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Hays; a grandson, Robert Hays; two brothers, Russell Hays and an infant brother; a sister, Elizabeth “Sis” Hays; and two brothers-in-law. No calling hours will be observed, because Bill donated his body to OSU Medical Center in hopes he could help science find a cure for the disease that cut his life short. Memorial services will take place at White Cottage United Methodist Church on Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to White Cottage United Methodist Church, 5440 Limestone Valley Road, White Cottage, OH 43791.
