About | Wylie “Wally” Edward Gowen, Jr., 56, of Pleasant Hill Road, Waverly, Ohio, passed away peacefully Tuesday February 4, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Wylie was born June 15, 1957 in Louisville, Kentucky, son of the late Wylie Edward Gowen, Sr. and Pauline Norton Gowen Cain. He is survived by his loving wife Sandra Harker Gowen, to whom he married November 30, 2013, his step children, Blaine Harker of Provo, Utah, Cory Harker (Emily) of Logan, Utah, Jason Harker of Holiday, Utah, Savannah Harker of Rexburg Idaho, Stephen Harker of Powell, Wyoming, six brothers, Chester Gowen (Cindy) of Waverly, Rodney Gowen (Leisa) of Washington Court House, Ohio, James Cain, Jr. of Chillicothe, Ohio, Harvey Cain (Beth) of Miami, Oklahoma, Don Cain (Tina) of Waverly and Billy Cain of Chillicothe; four sisters, Imogene Blair (Bill) of Louisville, Kentucky, Connie Powell of Waverly, Bonnie Cain (Randy Bible) of Union Furnace, Ohio, Deborah Allen of Waverly, stepfather, James Cain, Sr. of Waverly and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry W. and Willard E. Gowen. Wylie was a 1975 graduate of Piketon High School, an employee of C &W services, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Chillicothe. He was an avid car buff. He loved building and restoring street rods. He always looked forward to attending as many street rod shows as possible during the summer months and traveling to new places with his wife. Wylie will be missed by all his family and many, many friends he has made over the past 56 years. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 8, 2014 at the Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly, with Bishop Anthony George officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Union Cemetery, Waverly. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-9 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday. |
