About | MARION: Douglas James Hypes, age 55 of Marion, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday September 21, 2016 after his battle with lung cancer. Doug was born on January 7, 1961 in Columbus, the son of Eugene L. Hypes, Jr. and Donna Lee (Herman) Foreman. Doug attended both Pleasant High School and River Valley High School. Doug was a very hard working man. Early in his career he worked in industrial construction. He then transitioned into custom body work, specifically motorcycles, working at Barlow's Body Shop. He was a very gifted artist with an eye for custom design and color. Doug was interested in everything; from history to science, artwork and collections. He loved to ride his motorcycle and was of course proud of what he customized. He was an extremely generous and a loyal friend, whenever anyone was in need Doug would be there without question. He was the kind of guy everyone loved to be around, possibly because of his ornery sense of humor. Above all, Doug was a devoted family man. He cherished the time spent with his wife Marianne whom he married on March 6, 1982. His greatest achievement was his two daughters Jesi and Kari and then was blessed with 2 granddaughters which he adored. He is survived by his wife Marianne Hypes; daughters: Jesi (Jon) Miller and Kari Hypes; granddaughters: Mia Hypes and Emma Miller; parents: Donna Lee (the late David S.) Foreman and Eugene L. Hypes, Jr.; siblings: David (Maria L.) Hypes and Beckey (Wayne) Scott and nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday September 24, 2016 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center St., Marion from 2PM to 4PM; the family would like for everyone to come dressed comfortably as Doug would have preferred for his friends to be comfortable. A Celebration of Life will follow at his brother's home at 3033 Conrads Trace, Marion at 5PM. If so desired, donations may be made to the James Cancer Center.
