About | HUMPHREY Catherine W. "Katie" Humphrey, age 89, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at the Forum at Knightsbridge. Katie was born on July 13, 1920 in Reynoldsburg to the late William and Nellie (Scully) Ware. She is also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, William R. Humphrey and sisters Mary Ann DiNinni and Grace Martin. Katie was born and raised in the Columbus area and graduated from Reynoldsburg High School and went on to vocational schooling. She was a long time administrative assistant for the Columbus Dispatch and Clyde Williams and Associates. She retired as Dr. Novice G. Fawcett's personal assistant. Katie is survived by her loving children, Rob (Barb) Humphrey and Carol (Mark) Foor; grandchildren, Stephanie, Stacey, Christopher, Trent and Troy; nephew, John Martin; and many other family and friends. She was a member of Northwest Christian Church for over 50 years and was active in the Christian Women's Fellowship, Sunday School, Faith Mission, Bell Choir, church newsletter and church dinners. She was also a member of Eastern Star and volunteered with the Board of Elections. Katie enjoyed reading, crosswords and her monthly couple's card club. She was a positive, happy and upbeat woman because "that was the only way to be". Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221. Funeral service will take place on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Northwest Christian Church, 1340 Fishinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221; with visitation starting at 10 a.m. until time of service. Reverend Cynthia Adcock officiating. Private inurnment to take place at Glen Rest Memorial Estates at a later date.
