About | This is the notice his son posted on Dave's Facebook page. It was beautifully written and just as Dave would have wanted. "Dear family and friends, Let me preface this by stating that this post is written by Dave's son Ben White. Unfortunately, this post is about some very difficult news. This past weekend, on May 29th, 2016, my father pasted away peacefully in his home. He went very quietly in sleep, with no pain or suffering. It came as a shock to us all, as my father seemed to be rediscovering his youth at only 60, jumping around the world on a whim to chase any new adventure. He was the greatest man I have ever known, being kind and caring with everyone he met, and helping every soul he could. He loved to appreciate the beauty of the world and the people who filled it, and strove to enjoy as much of it as possible. He will be dearly missed and I know that he touched many lives in his unique way, bringing nothing but joy and laughs wherever he traveled. My father hated the idea of funerals and causing people grief, he preferred the people he loved applauding the memories he created and his spirit in life. So in honor of his memory we will be having a celebration of life on Sunday, June 5th. We ask that those of you who can't be with us raise a glass for Dave, and toast a great man onto his next adventure." Dave had not been sick and posted up to a couple days prior in fact, he had recently posted the following quote ... “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!” ? Hunter S. Thompson, The Proud Highway: Saga of a Desperate Southern Gentleman, 1955-1967 This the link to his memorial page: http://www.never-gone.com/memorials/captdavewhite |
