| About | David T. Thackery, 45, the Newberry Library's curator of local and family history whose book about a Civil War regiment is due out next year, died Friday after suffering a heart attack while jogging in Hyde Park. A native of Urbana, Ohio, Mr. Thackery earned a degree from Wittenberg University and two master's degrees from the University of Chicago. He joined the Newberry, 60 W. Walton, in 1982, and was made head of the research facility's genealogy department in 1983. |
