About | Joy was active in girl's basketball and volleyball. She was active in intermural sports and played guard position, but could shot a basketball very well for a "short" girl. She was in Leader's Club and helped Mrs Zerkle in all phases of "Zerk's" sport programs for girls. Joy was one of the girls that met in Jean Zerkle's garage and designed and made the very first "Hillclimber" mascot head. Joy sang in the Girl's Chorus in her freshman and sophomore years. Even after gradulation, Joy continued to support her beloved Hillclimbers by going to most if not all of their football and basketball games. She was a real fan of the OSU Buckeye's and traveled to many of their home games when possible. Her favorite yell "GO BUCK'S" . Joy was born and raised in Urbana(10-2-40) and attended East Ward Elementary School. Joy had one brother, Mark Thomas Class of '54, that survives her. |
