About | Agatha “Marie” Moyer Denman, born to Harry and Hazel Moyer on July 8, 1934, died on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2024. Better known as “Maggie” in mid-life, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul, and her siblings Geneva, Dallas, Barbara, Delores and Lee. She is also predeceased by her good friend and partner in later life, Robert C. Pfendler. A 1952 graduate of Lash High School, she was the school newspaper editor and a very good student. She and her sisters played string instruments and sang on local radio shows while the four of them were young. She received a small scholarship to go to college but was unable to attend. Instead, as a prolific reader, Maggie became a lifelong learner in many subjects. In July of 1953 she married the love of her life, Paul W. Denman, in Zanesville, Ohio. They parented two children, Sarah Elizabeth and David Paul. Due to her husband’s work, they lived in Zanesville, Coshocton, West Lafayette, Strasburg, Prairie Meadows, Collinsville (Illinois) and retired to Massillon, Ohio. Their retirement years together were cut short when Paul died of ALS in 1991. Maggie enjoyed reading, playing bridge, drawing, wood carving, music, theater, playing mandolin, sewing and social gatherings of several kinds. She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Sarah, (Christopher) and John Pfendler of Massillon, Ohio and David Paul, (Brenda), Jess Denman, William Matlock and Gerry Collard of Georgetown, Kentucky. Maggie is also survived by a special soul sister, Marj Fuerman. Out of respect for so many of Maggie’s friends and family being such long distances away, the family has chosen to have no calling hours and instead a private gathering of immediate family to remember her. |
