About | Alice Lucille Jackson, 83, of Zanesville, passed away at 7:35 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at Primrose Retirement Community. She was born on Nov. 22, 1925, in Racine, to the late Carlos Bingham and Flossie Dille Lovell. She was a 1943 graduate of Lash High School and attended Atlantic Union College, Columbia Union College, and Meredith Business College. She was a member of Soroptimist Club of Zanesville where in 2007 she received The Spirit of Soroptimist award. She was a member of the Zanesville Seventh-day Adventist Church where she served as treasurer for many years and also was a leader for the youth group Pathfinders. She was a board member of the Seventh-day Adventist Elementary School. In July 1949, she and her late husband Everett H. Jackson Sr. opened the Franklin Printing Company. A new plant was built in 1994 at 984 Beverly Ave. Lucille and her husband worked side by side for 57 years. She is survived by three sons, Everett (Ruby) Jackson Jr. of Zanesville, Eric (Don Leppa) Jackson of Arlington, Va., Eldon (Donna) Jackson of Somerset; a brother, Richard "Dick" Lovell of Zanesville; two sisters, Kay Bartley of Chevy Chase, Md., and Phyllis LaPlante of Bradenton, Fla.; her aunt, Lois (Phil) Ayers of Effingham, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Bryan and Andrew Jackson, Melissa (Joe) Glenny, Jason (Irene) Bookman, Julie (Scott) Fortner, Jill (Matt) Czaja, Sarah (Lewis) Catlett, Lisa Jackson; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett H. Jackson Sr., who passed away on July 19, 2007. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Primrose Retirement Community, Shawna, and staff for their love and care. In memory of our co-founders passing, Franklin Printing Co. will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, 2009. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, at The Snouffer Funeral Home, 1150 W. Military Road. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, in The Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Steve Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Forks Cemetery in Gratiot. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to Genesis Hospice, 714 Forest Ave., Zanesville, or Eastside Community Ministries, 221 Stillwell St., Zanesville. |
