About | Alice "Rachel" Glass, 84, of Zanesville, died at 1:55 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at the Clay House. She was born Sept. 12, 1924, in Zanesville, the daughter of the late Rollin E. and Beryl A. Frum Ball. Rachel graduated from Lash High School in 1942 and was formerly employed by Black and Grant, Kessler's Foodtown, Burch's Foodtown and Tat's Pizzeria. Rachel enjoyed attending events with her family, especially her grandchildren's sporting events. She also enjoyed playing cards and fishing. Surviving Rachel are her daughters, Joy (Don) Larson, Barbara (John) Tatman, Robert (Martha) Glass Jr. and Betsy Glass of Zanesville; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Willey of Zanesville, Edna (Ron) Lemley of Newark and Nellie Clady of Bucyrus; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Betty Glass of Zanesville and Peg Russell of Florida; and friend, Mary Lawrence. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Glass Sr., who died in 1974; daughter, Patricia D. Glass, who died in 1975; sisters, Lillian R. Ball and Mildred R. Ball; and brothers, Elmer L. Donald L. and Jacob R. Ball. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, and at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Bryan & Snider Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday, Jan 23, 2009, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joy French will officiating. Committal services will follow in Wesley Union Cemetery near White Cottage. |
