Andrew “Pete” D. Beckert, 74 of Nashport, died, Thursday, August 11, 2022, at his home. He was born Saturday, September 27, 1947, in Zanesville, the son of Andrew and Dorothy (Brown) Beckert. Pete was a Certified Master Plumber for many years. During that time he spent countless hours tending to peoples repairs in their homes, to sometimes include Holidays such as Thanksgiving and even Christmas. He loved his sons very much and used to share a love for the game of basketball with them. He helped at many basketball games at St Thomas and Rosecrans for many years, even long after his sons were out of school. Later in life he enjoyed playing pool in leagues and anywhere that had a pool table. He enjoyed learning new things and teaching others about basketball, pool, plumbing or anything that he knew. Pete didn’t know a stranger and he was a very kind and extremely patient person. He held many skills to include plumbing, electric, carpentry, auto repair and welding. He could imagine and then fabricate or repair things with nothing more than some old scrap metal or old broken parts and pieces and give it a new purpose in life. He had an enjoyment for life and sharing jokes with anyone that would listen. Pete had a deep love for his wife even years after she had passed away. He never remarried. Pete was a member of Eagles Aerie 302. He enjoyed people, playing pool, cutting wood, and running the sawmill. Pete is survived by two sons, Michael (Aimee) Beckert and Aaron (Libby Cullins) Beckert both of Westerville; four grandchildren, Chase Beckert, Jaleigh Beckert, Wryn Beckert and Haleigh Sheperd; two sisters, Rita Fineran and Sheila (Fred) Raisbeck and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Beckert. Per Pete’s wishes no services will be held and a caring cremation will take place. |
