About | On Sunday June 16, 2024, God called and carried, B. Marlene (Smith) Ridgley, 90, on the wings of the Spirit, after a sudden and relatively short illness, with her beloved daughter, Amy, by her side. She was born on February 3, 1934, in Zanesville, Ohio, daughter of the late James Harold Smith and Beulah Marie (Wartenbe) Smith. Marlene was an over 50-year generational member of the First Baptist Church. She graduated in 1952 from Lash High School and earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from Ohio University. Marlene worked for 11 years at McGraw Edison in the Drafting Department and later taught in the Maysville School District for 25 years. She enjoyed worldwide traveling, quilting, gardening, reading, and volunteering at Christ’s Table and the Produce Market, which is in conjunction with East Side Ministries. She is survived by her daughter, Amy; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law; several nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; caring neighbors, loving friends, and devoted church members. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Paul F. Ridgley; her parents; and younger brother, James Daniel Smith. Calling hours will be held on Sunday June 23, 2024, 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM, with services on Monday June 24, 2024, at 10:30 AM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, who has assisted with these arrangements. Burial to follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. |
