| About | Barbara Jean Toler Dalton 77, earned her angel wings at 11:34 a. m. on Friday, November 11, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at home after a most fierce, courageous battle with cancer for 20 months and never quit blessing us with her smile through it all. Barbara was born January 22, 1939 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late James and Florence Toler. Barbara was a loving and dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt to her family. She was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church - Zanesville. Barbara graduated from Zanesville High School in 1957. She attended Ohio University, and earned her business degree from Meredith Business College in 1959. She was a previous member of Queen of Chapter # 49 Order of Eastern Star and a current member of the Amaranth Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star-PHA-State of Ohio. Barbara became a trailblazer when she began her 35 year career at Columbia Gas of Ohio. She retired from Columbia Gas Company in 1997 after thirty five years of service where she enjoyed helping people in the community. Her courageous quiet gentle spirit, sharp humorous whit and eternal smile brought comfort to so many whose life she impacted with her life lessons. As a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church Zanesville since childhood, Barbara served in various roles down through the years, with the Stewardess Board being her favorite for 47 years. She is survived by her son, Chad Dalton of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; one sister, Dr. Brenda Kay Toler of Worthington, Ohio, one granddaughter Tiesha Pardon-Dalton of Columbus Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, James W. and Florence V. Norris Toler; her husband, Gary Dalton, her brother, Donis Toler, Sr. and her niece, Stephanie A. Toler. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at Hillis, Combs and Nestor Funeral Home at 935 Forest Ave. in Zanesville, Ohio. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at 12:00 noon, with a one hour viewing at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, located at 561 Pine Street in Zanesville, Ohio with Reverend Clifton R. Kilpatrick officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. |
