About Blanche Louise "Tootie" Thomas 95 of Zanesville passed away Wednesday September 3, 2014 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital.She was born December 19, 1918 in East Fultonham the daughter of the late Clay Van Allen and Celia May Mckee Van Allen Dalton.While Tootie was still a young girl her mother was remarried to Grant Dalton and Tootie considered him to be her true father.Tootie graduated from Zanesville High School in 1936 and then worked for Ohio Bell as a switch board operator and later as a supervisor.In 1941 she married Bill Henry Thomas and he preceded her in death in 1970. While her husband served in WWII Tootie was employed at Bethesda Hospital as a switch board operator and then as a receptionist at the front desk and supervisor of the hospital's volunteer staff. For many Tootie's attractive and friendly greeting was their first hospital experience. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church on Putnam Ave. and was know for her lovely voice, singing in the church choir and was a member of the Junior Women's Club. She also belonged to a private bridge club. She also sang on the radio with the Wells-Ross Orchestra.She is survived by her daughters Paula McColl of La Jolla, CA and Pamela Thomas of Zanesville; her dear cousin Nancy Schmid of Zanesville. Private family services were held at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home in White Cottage.
