| About | Carol E. Burgess, 91, of Shalimar, FL, passed away on May 15, 2024. She is survived by her two children, James Kevin of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Kimberly Leigh (Stuart) Wright of Stuttgart, Germany; two grandchildren, Christin Burgess (Justin) Rhodes, and Bryan Michael (Catherine) Burgess, of Atlanta, GA; four great grandchildren, Merritt Louise Rhodes, Dean Lewis Rhodes, Ava Leigh Burgess and Aiden Robert Burgess. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Burgess, Jr., and son, Stephen Michael. She had a distinguished 46-year Federal Civil Service career in the medical field. Carol lived life to its fullest through simple pleasures and passions. She was actively involved with her church and volunteerism. She expertly crafted the Herald of Hope newsletter each month, coordinated numerous events at the chapel and the Air Force Enlisted Village, and served as the “right hand” to her dear friend and Pastor, Beth Bateson. She was also a gifted and accomplished artist. She loved her family, her many friends and God. A memorial service will be held at Dolores Hope All Faiths Chapel at the Air Force Enlisted Village in Shalimar, FL, on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to the Air Force Enlisted Village Subsidy for Widows.
