About | BEVERLY: Charles (Chuck) Arnett Powell of Beverly passed away at his home at 6:59 a.m., Sunday, January 20, 2013. He was born February 21, 1939, in Clarksburg, WV, to the late Thomas and Thelma Wisehart Powell. He attended Zanesville High School and worked at a Zanesville lunch counter where he developed a love of the restaurant business. He later owned restaurants in Virginia; came back to Ohio and was the owner of Chuck's Country Kitchen in Beverly and later the Blue Bell 50's Diner in McConnelsville from 1989 to 2002. After retiring from there he and his wife, Jamie opened T's N Things and J & B Gently Used Furniture on Main St, McConnelsville. Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Jamie; three sons, Michael and Troy of Virginia and Joshua of Beverly; five daughters, Linda Nichols of Elston, VA, ChaCha of Roanoke, VA, Toya of North Carolina, Chazlie Peterman of Waterford and Tunisha Powell of Beverly; 14 grandchildren and four great Grandchildren; one brother, Taylor Powell of Zanesville; and two sisters, Zonabelle Huber of Centerville and Sylvia Dawson of McConnelsville; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and Special Friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Davis; and one brother, Stratton Powell. According to his wishes, his body has been donated to Ohio University. There will be no calling hours, but there will be a Memorial service at the Waterford Nazarene Church on Friday, January 25 at 11:00 a.m. with Karl Kesselring officiating. |
