| About | GARY, IN: Charles Bishop Riggs Jr., 67, of Miller Beach, Gary, IN, died peacefully Friday, March 23, at the VNA Hospice Center, Valparaiso, IN. Born February 21, 1945, Chuck was predeceased by his parents, Charles Bishop and Betty Urban Riggs of Zanesville. Chuck graduated from Zanesville High School in 1963. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He had been a member of Grace United Methodist Church. In the insurance industry for many years, his love of sailing turned into a career of fresh- and salt-water racing out of Chicago and Fort Lauderdale. Chuck was also recognized as an expert sail rigger. He is survived by his brother, Steve Riggs of Cumberland, Rhode Island; niece, Malissa Petrov, Mason, Ohio; two great-nephews, Spencer and Nicholas Petrov; and cousins, Libby Urban Patterson of Alliance, Ohio, Caroline Urban Davis, Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Donald A. Urban, Fort Wayne, Indiana and Kathy Fitzpatrick, Ft. Pierce, Florida. Chuck's final resting place will be St. Paul's Cemetery, Zanesville, Ohio. Private funeral and burial arrangements are being made by Burns Funeral Home, Hobart, Indiana. |
