STUART, FL: Charles Willis Morrison, age 90, of Stuart, FL passed away on November 9th, 2016 at Harper Hospice House of Martin County, Stuart, FL.Born in Zanesville, Ohio on Friday, November 13, 1925 to the late Robert Byron and Florence Ella (Perfect) Morrison, the fourth child and second son. Chuck graduated from Lash High School in 1943 and joined the Navy where he served in both San Francisco, CA and on Guam as a naval sonar specialist during World War II. After the war, he attended The Ohio State University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business and Accounting in 1948. While at OSU, he met and married Joan (Nida) Morrison of Marietta, Ohio in June 1946. They moved to Zanesville, Ohio after their graduation in 1948, where he joined his father in the automobile business, and later owning first a Chrysler Plymouth and eventually his own Cadillac and Pontiac Dealerships. Chuck was very active in the community. He was a member of Rotary, past District Governor and charter member of Springdale Rotary Club in Cincinnati, OH. While in Zanesville, he served on several Boards of Directors including Good Samaritan Hospital and Zanesville Federal Savings & Loan.In 1977, Chuck sold the Zanesville Dealership and moved the Morrison Pontiac Dealership to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he ultimately sold his Dealership and retired to Stuart, FL in Dec. 1986. He and Jody settled in the Stuart Yacht & Country Club, where they lived until Jody passed away Dec. 5, 1991 after a long battle with breast cancer.Chuck is survived by his wife Virginia (Callahan) Morrison whom he met through their mutual love of golf and boating and were married in Nov. 1992. They had the last 24 years filled with adventure and fun. Chuck is also survived by his sister Mary (Morrison) McClelland of Dublin, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews, and predeceased by his sister Suzanne (Morrison) Coyle and brothers Dr. Robert (Bob) Morrison Jr. and William (Bill) H. Morrison.Chuck leaves behind his 3 children, Chuck II, (Abbey Swope Morrison), Jensen Beach, FL; Claire Leugers, (Thomas Apking), Ft. Myers, FL; and Mollie M. Harrington, Fleming Island, FL; and his 6 grandchildren, Cole Morrison (Katie), Bailey Morrison, Grant W. Leugers, (Julie), 2 great-grandsons, Will and Ben Leugers, Cincinnati, OH; Cullen Leugers, Seattle, WA; Rob Harrington, San Francisco, CA, and Joan Harrington, Fleming Island, FL.Private family graveside service with Veteran's Honors will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016 at Fernhill Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum, in Stuart, FL. |
