About Loving husband and father was born in Zanesville, Ohio on June 28th, 1938 to Chester Dale Young, Sr. and Thelma (Hall) Young. He passed on June 8, 2021 at 2:30 AM in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Dale was employed by Stancor Electronics for 8 years working in Zanesville, Chicago and Berrian Springs, MI. He was then employed by Custom Coil and Transformer as VP of Engineering and Sales for 24 years. He worked an additional 30 years at Custom Bobbin Windings as General Manager.

Dale was a sports fanatic. He started playing baseball with the Jr. Jaycee Leagues, went on to Sr. Jaycees, American Legion, Jr. Pioneers and he pitched for 11 years for the Sr. Pioneers, 24 years of baseball. He took some time off and then started playing slow-pitch softball on Central Trinity United Methodist Church team and finished after several years of playing with North Terrace Church of Christ team. He retired from the game at the age of 74 years.

Dale was inducted into the Muskingum Valley Old-Timers Hall of Fame in January, 2007. He spent time as a member of the Junior Pioneers in the 1950s, where he was a member of famous Five Labels on teams that won three games at the National AAABA Tournament in Johnstown, Pa.

Dale was also a member of the 1955 Zanesville High School State Championship basketball team. He was inducted into the Zanesville City Schools Hall of Fame with the 1955 Team on May 12, 2012.

Surviving him are his wife of 27 years, Charlene (Smallwood) Young; his daughters Tammy (Jesus) Rivera of Oklahoma City, Kathy (Sheldon) Shreve, Janeanne Young and Cassandra Davis all of Zanesville; two sons, Michael Young and Slade Young; sister, Helen (Chuck) Flowers; sister-in-law, Darla Doss, all of Zanesville; grandchildren, Brittany (Matt) Woody of Oklahoma, Jared (Amanda) Shreve of Zanesville, Neil Shreve of Dublin, Ohio, Courtney (Shane) Stone of Arizona and Nathan Rivera of OKC; two great-grandchildren, Bradley and Braden Shreve of Zanesville; nieces, Cheryl (Nigel) Knight, Tina (Buddy) Spraggins and Lindsey (Tim) Abella; nephews, Chuck (Tina) Flowers, Bill (Jamie) Flowers, Jim (Nakita)Flowers, Ryan Fleming and Brady Doss all of Zanesville; several cousins; special great nephews, Carter and Camden Abella; and his special pets, big dogs Enzo, Hooch and little Brutus.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday June 10, 2021 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM, with services beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow services at Greenwood Cemetery.
