About | David W. Wilson, 81, a resident of Alexandria, IN since 1965, formerly of Zanesville, OH passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Community Hospital in Anderson, IN after an extended illness. David was born in Zanesville July 7, 1929 to the late Milton & Mary (Davis) Wilson. He graduated in 1948 from Lash High School in Zanesville. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean war. He had worked for National Gypsum and Johns-Manville, both formerly of Alexandria for 20 years. He was also active in real estate sales from 1970 to 1990. Dave was a member of and Past President of the Anderson Board of Realtors and was named as Realtor of the Year in 1978. He was also a member of the Indiana Real Estate Commission and was chairman of their Education Committee. Dave was an active member of the Alexandria First United Methodist Church. He has held every office in the church including Lay Leader. He had also served as a delegate to the Annual Methodist Conference. He was a member of Alexandria Masonic Lodge #235 and was a Past Worshipful Master. He was also a member of the York Rite and Commandery. Dave was also a member and Past President of the Alexandria Kiwanis Club. Survivors are: his wife, Eleanor (Woodland) Wilson whom he married September 18, 1949; son, Blake (Julia) Wilson of Indianapolis; daughter, Sandra (Ward) Ward of Torrance, CA; grandchildren, Craig (Tina) Ables, Megan Ables, Zachary Wilson and Lauren Wilson; great-granddaughter, Abagail Ables; sister, Nancy (Byron) McCallister of Zanesville, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Cathy (Larry) Kotler of Zanesville, OH and Molly (Tim) McInturf of Newark, OH. David was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 in the First United Methodist Church in Alexandria with Rev. Jean Brindel officiating. Entombment followed in Anderson Memorial Park Mausoleum with military honors provided by Anderson VFW #266 Honors Team. |
