About Donald Eugene Casner, age 79, went to meet his Lord and Savior on August 5, 2021. He was the son of the late Charles Walters Casner and Goldie Irene Devore of Zanesville, Ohio. Don was born on May 3, 1942.

Don was born in Huntington, WV and his family moved to Zanesville, Ohio. He was a graduate of Zanesville High School and soon after he married Darla Hope Warne on January 19, 1963. Later they gave birth to their first child, Lorri Christine and two years later had a son, Kenneth Alan. Don worked for RCA for a few years and the family moved to Newport News, VA for a year working on a government contract. He then moved to Durham, NC working for IBM for 30 years before retiring to the town of Oxford, NC. After retiring from IBM, he went to work for Kozeman Instruments, Inc for several years.

He was one of the founding members of the Parkwood Volunteer Fire Department volunteering as a firefighter and EMT. He served as a Deacon at his home church, Christian Assembly, on Roxboro Road for several years helping anyone who needed him.

Don is survived by his wife of 58 years, Darla Hope Casner; their daughter, Lorri Christine Casner Basara and their son, Kenneth Alan Casner and his spouse, Lauren Ashley. He leaves behind 6 beautiful grandchildren, Kassie Elizabeth Casner, Titus William Casner, Ellie Hope Casner, Creed Alan Casner, Zebulon Rhett Casner and Noah Aaron Basara (Emma) and 2 amazing great grandchildren, Aaron Joshua “AJ” Torresvalle and Gabriel Dean Basara. He will be missed by many extended family and friends too numerous to name.

A visitation will be held for family and friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan, 503 College Street, Oxford, NC. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021, at Gentry Newell & Vaughan Chapel at 10:30 am and will be officiated by Rev. Brett Spiers. Burial to follow at the Family farm.
