About | Donald T. Monroe,Jr., age 92, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away on December 27, 2020 at 10:45am at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. Don was born in Eagleport, Ohio, to Donald T. Sr., and Velma (Stone) Monroe, both of whom are deceased. He married Jean Marshall on July 5, 1958 in Zanesville, Ohio and she passed away on October 3, 2004. He is survived by his 3 sons: Michael Monroe of Findlay, Dennis Monroe of Carey, and Donald T. Monroe, III of Upper Sandusky. 4 grandchildren, Mark Spoon, Michael Monroe II, Heather Monroe and Amanda Mooney, and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a granddaughter Leanna, and 2 brothers, Roy Grant Monroe and James Robert Monroe, and a sister Garoldine McFerren. Don was a 1946 graduate of Zanesville High School and went into the service at the age of 17, serving in the US Navy during World War II. He worked for over 22 years as a maintenance supervisor for Whirpool in Findlay. Before that he had worked for Westinghouse in Upper Sandusky. He was a life member of the VFW #3759 in Carey, life member of the Amvets #777, Moose Lodge #1093 Upper Sandusky, life member of both the American Legion Post #225 and BPOE #83, Upper Sandusky. For hobbies he enjoyed camping with his wife, traveling around the states, and bowling. Funeral services for Donald Monroe Jr. will be held at 11:00am Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Rev. Jim Stauffer officiating. Burial will take place at Old Mission Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted. |
