| About | Donna Jean Haines, 78, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Born September 16, 1941, in Zanesville, OH, she was the daughter of the late Donald Scott Newman and Edna Louise (Cavinee) Newman. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Edwin Haines, in 2017. Donna was a graduate of Zanesville High School in Zanesville. She was the owner and operator of Dona Kaye Personnel in Hagerstown, until she retired in 2009. Donna was an avid quilter and enjoyed playing the accordion with her husband in their band, known as Sentimental Sounds for many years. She was listed in the American Accordion Hall of Fame. She was an active member in the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and the Kentucky Colonels. She was on the Board of Directors with the Chambers of Commerce and was a past president of the Business and Professional Women’s Club. Donna is survived by her son, Gary Hayes and wife, Anna, of Hagerstown; two grandsons, Craig and Kyle; a brother, Charles Newman and wife, Cathy; close friend, Linda Nott; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. |
