About | Dr. George R. Fitz, 75, of 5455 East Shore Dr. NW, Canton, OH, a former Zanesville resident, died Tuesday, May 20, 1975 at Canton. Dr. Fitz practiced optomertry in Zanesville before moving to Canton in 1932. He also had been manager of the old John Bauer and Son Jewelry Store on Main St., near Fourth St. A graduate of Zanesville High School, he atteded Ohio State University and graduated from Northern Illinois College on Optometry. Dr. Fitz was active in Canton Jaycees. He also was a member of LaFayette Lodge No. 79 here and Scottish Rite, Alkaran Shrine and Nazor Grotto of Canton . Dr. Fitz was past president of the Shrine and of Exchange Club at Canton. He was born October 18, 1899. Surviving are his widow, Mae E. Fitz; a son, Dr. George Robert Fitz of Canton; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Abby Jo) Clark and Mrs. Richard (Darla Mae) Frederick, both of Canton, Mrs. Robert (Georgia Lee) Graham of Hialeah, FL; a brother, Dr. David R. Fitz of 1412 Marion Avenue; two sisters, Mrs. Homer C. (Margaret) Leffler of 1035 Findley Ave. and Mrs. Lewis l. (Josephine) Lucas of 854 Brighton Blvd. Burial will be in Canton. |
