Sterling or better known as “Obie” by his colleagues and friends received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical School in 1952. He completed his internship and Residency program at University Hospitals in Cleveland Ohio and then proudly served his country in the United States Air Force in Greenville South Carolina. Obie returned to Zanesville in 1959 to practice medicine with his father. Dr. Obenour was a very well respected surgeon who specialized in General and Vascular Surgery. Expanding his photography skills he established his own small commercial business and traveled many back roads to photograph different subjects. He developed his own photographs and was a perfectionist in all that he did. Obie was able to combine his love of flying and photography by producing beautiful aerial photographs. Many of his photographs can be seen today lining the halls of both Genesis hospitals and the Zanesville Country Club. Music was also an important part of Obies life and he was a member of the Muskingum Valley Symphonic Winds and the Zanesville Memorial Band for many years.
