About | Earl G. Playford, 69, of Columbus, former Zanesville resident and former salesman for Columbia Gas of Ohio Inc., died at 8:25 am Wednesday, October 27, 1971 in Riverside Hospital, Columbus, where he had been a patient for the past 10 days. Mr. Playford attended Ohio State University, and joined the old Ohio Fuel Gas Co., in Coshocton in 1932. He was later town manager for the gas company in Coshocton and was district business promotion manager for the gas company from 1945 to 1954 in New York. Before his retirement in 1966, Mr. Playford served as business promotion coordinator with Columbis Gas Co., in New York. A member of the masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite of Toledo, he was active in Junior Achievement in Toledo and past president of Rotary International in Coshocton, and the Chambers of Commerce in the in cities in which he was employed. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Born December 29, 1901, in Columbus, he was a son of the late Samuel and Ethel M. Mingis Playford. Surviving are his widow, the former Alice Terrell. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Zanesville. |
