Graduation Year Class of 1948
Date of Passing Apr 18, 2015
About Elizabeth Ann (Libby)Gibson, 84, of Zanesville, passed away April 18,, 2015, at her Maysville Pike home surrounded by her loving family. Born April 28, 1930, in White Cottage, Ohio to the late Truman and Helen Stultz. Some of Elizabeth's fondest memories were spent in White Cottage with her brothers Stanley, Charles, and Marion (Skeeter). As children in White Cottage, they would often play hide-and-seek in the William Thompson and Son Funeral Home and serve as witnesses for the deceased who had no family. Elizabeth graduated from Lash High School in 1948. She graduated from the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1951 and worked at Good Samaritan hospital for many years. Elizabeth did private duty nursing after graduation, and spoke fondly of and remained friends with many of her patients. She returned to nursing after raising her family and retired from Good Samaritan in 1987. Elizabeth enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, and was in card club for over 50 years. She was a member of the South Zanesville United Methodist Church and volunteered for many years at their food bank. Elizabeth had an infectious laugh that made everyone who heard it feel better. Any time spent with "Libby" was sure to make you smile. She loved anything with the color blue in it. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ned; daughters, Marian (John) Henthorne, Erin (Kelly) Cottrill, and Jennifer (Fred) Derwacter, brother, Marion "Skeeter"(Colleen) Stultz; grandchildren, Kacey (Kristie) Cottrill, Stephanie (Jeremy) Butler, Emily (Nate) Near, Shawn Ballinger, Rashell (Alan) Melville, Kara Derwacter; and great grandchildren Cameron Melville, Ila Near; Erica, Megan, Kaylin, and Kristin Roessler. She will also be missed by her special, lifelong friend, Joy Lee Roberts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Truman and Helen Stultz; brothers, Stanley and Charles Stultz; and an infant daughter, Marsha Gibson. Our lives were blessed because we were loved by her. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the William Thompson and Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive in White Cottage where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015.
