| About | Elmer C. Long, 93, of Pataskala, Ohio, died peacefully Friday, December 1, 2023 at Mount Carmel East Hospital, where he had been a patient since Sunday, November 26. Born in South Crooksville on December 14, 1929, he was the son of the late Perley and Myrtle Grace Long. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou Arnold Long in 1998, and 3 brothers James Long, Rondo Long, and Robert Long. He is survived by daughter, Rebecca Jayne Long of Radnor, Ohio; granddaughter, Angela Marie (Jeremy) James and three great-grandsons, Dominic, Orion, and Kayleb all of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; two special sisters-in-law Donna Long of Zanesville and Joan Groves of Philo; as well as several nieces and nephews. Elmer was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War April 20, 1951 – April 13, 1953, where he was stationed as a cook in Germany. He was a 39 year member of the American Legion, currently at Post 804 of St. Louisville and was a past Post Commander at Post 107 in Kirkersville. He was an electrician with IBEW Local Union 683 Columbus where he retired from in 1992. A visitation for Elmer will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 S. Main Street, Pataskala, Ohio 43062. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM, 289 S. Main Street, Pataskala, Ohio 43062, with graveside service to follow at 1:30 PM at Duncan Falls Cemetery, 191 Harlan Dr., Duncan Falls, Ohio 43734. |
