About | GROVE CITY: Elsie "Nan" Christian, age 90, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011. She was born August 24, 1921 in Zanesville, Ohio; a graduate of Lash High School and Zanesville Business College. As a young lady, Elsie worked as a stenographer at the Zanesville Courthouse, followed by a lifetime commitment to her family and church. Nan loved Parkview United Methodist Church and was always ready and willing to serve…whether on the Altar Guild or helping with decorating or in any capacity through her Circle and United Methodist Women, she always gave of her time with a cheerful heart. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 50 years, Robert Christian; son, David Christian; parents, Howard and Ruth (Hartz) Ardrey; brother, Harold Ardrey; brother-in-law, Arthur Christian and sister-in-law, Sue Hughes. Nan is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Wood; grandchildren, Jodibeth (Ben) Vermaaten and Chad (Sara) Wood; her precious great-grandson, Cale Benjamin Vermaaten; nephews, Jan Ardrey; Jay and Patty Ardrey and their children, Matt, Carilynn and Daniel; her girls Euchre Club of almost 50 years, including Jean Hedges, Dorothy Reynolds and Nancy Finneran. Family will receive friends 4-7pm Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123. Funeral Services will be held at 10am Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Parkview United Methodist Church, 344 S. Algonquin (between Brinker Ave. and Palmetto St.) Columbus, OH 43204; interment Sunset Cemetery. |
