About | Eugene E. “Gene” Archer, 93, of Zanesville, died at 8:55AM Tuesday April 15, 2008 at Genesis Morrison House Hospice. Gene was born July 16, 1914 in Zanesville the son of the late Addis and Linnie Munch Archer. He was a graduate of Lash High School Class of 1932 and Muskingum College in 1936 where he was a member of Stag Club. Gene proudly served his country during WW II as a Lieutenant in the US Navy. He was a survivor of the USS Warrington DD 383 in Pacific and Atlantic Theatres. He was a retired owner of Medical Dental Hospital Bureau, Archer Adjustment Agency, Archer Insurance Agency and Telephone Answering Service of Zanesville. Gene was a member of St. James Episcopal Church where he was an usher and member of the church Altar Guild. He was also a member of Honor Lodge of Zanesville F&AM #726, Carpinteria Lodge, Carpenteria, CA F&AM # 444, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge, Aladdin Shrine Temple, Columbus, BPOE #114, Elks Lodge of Zanesville, Rotary Club of Zanesville and Life Member of Pioneer and Historical Society of Muskingum County. Surviving Gene are his sons: Alan (Mary) Archer of Pickerington and Daniel (Cindy) Archer of Phoenix, AZ, grandchildren: Lori (Chris) Forgy of Concord, OH, Lisa (John) Racanelli of Hilliard, Andrew (Missy) Archer of Powell, Scott Archer of Austin, TX, Robert Archer of Houston, TX and Brian Archer of Phoenix, AZ, great grandchildren: Jason and Wendy Wagner, Dominic and Olivia Racanelli and Abigail and Lilliann Archer, brother: Robert Gordon (Marian) Archer of San Diego, CA, nephew: Scott (Sue) Archer of Golden, CO and niece: Sandra Archer of San Diego, CA. Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Mary E. “Betty” Brown Archer who died March 7, 2006. At 11:00 AM Friday April 18, 2008 a Celebration of Life Service with Rev. Kathryn Clausen officiating, will be held in Gene’s honor at Bryan & Snider Funeral Home 2318 Maple Ave where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Inurnment services will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
