Evelyn L. Smith, 92 of Zanesville, died 9:45 PM, Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Genesis Morrison House Hospice. She was born Wednesday, December 13, 1922 in Zanesville, the daughter of Clyde Rush and Florence (Chandler) Rush. She was married to Paul P. Smith who preceded her in death on Friday, October 28, 1983. Evelyn was a dedicated member of Wings of Hope Tabernacle where she was involved in the Ladies Circle and Men & Women for Missions. Evelyn worked for Ballas Egg retiring following 51 years of service. She enjoyed sewing and was a great baker. Evelyn was a huge Ohio State Buckeye Fan.Evelyn is survived by her five nieces and nephews and care givers: Terry and Mary Newman, Robert Anthony and Carolyn Johnson, Michael Allen and Johnna Johnson and Valarie and Kurt O'Neal all of Zanesville and Sherrie Johnson of Columbus; several great nieces and including: Acacia LaDawn Johnson of Columbus, Anthony D. Johnson of Zanesville, Tori R. Johnson, Kashawna Staunton, Adrian C Johnson, Branden L. Ray, Damion M. Johnson, Thane C. O'Neal all of Zanesville.In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband: Paul Smith; two brothers: Marion E. Rush and Edward L. "Jack" Rush; two sisters: Betty Johnson and Dorothy Newman.Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville and one hour prior to services from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM at the church. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Wings of Hope Tabernacle, 709 Lee Street, Zanesville with Rev. Terry F. Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. |
