| About | Everett L. Montgomery passed away peacefully in Marietta. Georgia on October 13, 2024 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Newark, Ohio on June 20, 1933, the son of Alva and Lucy Osborne Montgomery and was raised in Zanesville, Ohio. After graduating from Zanesville High School he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He continued his education at The Ohio State University. Everett worked in management at Chemical Corporation in Akron, Ohio and in Marietta, Georgia where he moved with family in 1987. After retiring from Chemical Corporation he enjoyed a long and active retirement. He was a passionate Ohio State Buckeyes and Atlanta Braves fan, avid golfer and worked as a golf ranger after his retirement. He returned many times to Zanesville to visit family where they would play golf, go to the dog races/casino and play cards together. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Peggy Anderson Montgomery, his parents, his brothers Charles,. Alva Jr., Loren, James, and his sister Mary Gottke. He is survived by his son Bret, sister Alma Dilley, sister-in-law Shirley Montgomery, brother-in-law Joe (Katherine) Anderson and many nieces and nephews. A caring cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at a later date at Zanesville Memorial Park. |
