About | Flo Marie Dennis Martin, 83, of Frazeysburg went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Genesis Hospital surrounded by her family. Flo was born in Zanesville on August 19, 1937 to the late James O. and Ruth Ryan Dennis. She was a 1955 graduate of Zanesville High School and a 1958 graduate of Christ Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati. In her youth she taught Red Cross swimming and was awarded a scholarship for advanced lifeguard training. She was a devoted wife and mother. Flo married Thomas C. Martin on November 8, 1958. In addition to raising her children and working as a Registered Nurse, she helped her husband manage and operate The Martin Funeral Home in Rutland, Ohio. After returning home to Muskingum County she continued her career as a nurse at Good Samaritan Medical Center until her retirement in 1989. Her love for God and helping others was endless. She devoted 18 years as the statistician to the Muskingum County Hunger Network, assisted many food pantries (specifically the Open Pantry in Frazeysburg which she founded and operated with her husband in 1983), was an elder in her church, served on the United Way Board and the Meigs County Tuberculosis Board. Consistent with her beliefs, Flo and her late husband ministered to many troubled youth and taught them Christian values. She is survived by four children: Tamela (Rick) Larr, Abby (Scott) Fox, Timothy Martin, and Eric (Jennifer) Martin; 11 grandchildren: Marcus and Ryan Larr, Victoria Reed, Thomas Fox, Taran and Aiden Martin, Natasha Hendershot, Taylor Bennington, Claire, Kate and Jack Martin; 17 great grand-children, a sister Jane Leahy and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Martin, on September 7, 2003, two brothers: Robert R. Dennis and James W. Dennis, and a sister Carol A. Schmidt. Memorial Contributions may be made to Christ Table or to the food pantry of your choice. |
