About Gary L. Myers, 83, of Lancaster, passed away at 6:19 A.M. on Friday, December 21, 2018, at Pickering House with the loving support of Fairhope Hospice and Palliative Care, Lancaster.
Gary was born July 13, 1935 in Jewett, Ohio, son of Evelyn (Peg) and Ernest (Ernie) Myers. He attended High School both in Jewett and Zanesville where he played football and was on the wrestling team.
He met the love of his life, Eloise Wells, and they married in May of 1954 sharing uncountable adventures in their 64 years of marriage and family.
Gary and Eloise were avid travelers and accomplished visiting all 48 continental states in their motor home. Everyone that knew Gary knows that he also loved boating and can probably remember a fun day or two out on his boat! He enjoyed a long career as a container design engineer for Anchor Hocking, and transferred to Tampa, Florida in the early 80’s, where he worked for Anchor Glass Container Corp. until he retired. After retirement, Gary & Eloise returned to Lancaster to be closer to family. Gary enjoyed supporting charitable organizations such as Doctors without Borders and contributed to the restoration fund of the Statue of Liberty.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise; son, Michael (Marla) Myers; daughters, Deborah (Mark) Pickett and Teresa Speakman; 9 grandchildren, Aaron (Tiffany) Myers, Thor Speakman, Asia (Mike) Gray, Ghia (Alan) Zalewa, Jennifer (Larron) Wheeler, Mija Speakman, Matthew Pickett, Zuma (Matt) Speakman- McCarty, Ember Speakman; and 11 great-grandchildren, Samantha Myers, Daniel Myers, Nicholas Myers, Simon Gray, Koston Speakman, Torin Speakman, Brayden Wheeler, Landen Wheeler, Amelia Pickett, Madison Pickett, Wesley Pickett.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Evelyn Myers, and infant son Ronald Lee Myers.
Private graveside service will be held at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville with daughter, Teresa Speakman officiating.
