About Gary L. Guthrie, 83 of Duncan Falls, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2021, with his loving wife and his children by his side, while at the Morrison House and under the care of Genesis Hospice.

Gary was born in Spencer, West Virginia, on May 10, 1938. He is the son of the late Everett E. Sr. and Amma E. (Boothe) Guthrie. Gary retired from Brockway Glass, but also worked at the Ohio Ferro Alloy in Philo, and as a bus driver for Franklin Local Schools and Maysville Local Schools. He was a Methodist by faith, and Gary proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Gary is survived by his wife, Rita J. (Seevers) Guthrie, who he married on June 7, 1962; his children, Randy (Darby) Guthrie, Debbie (Jeff) Gheen, and Brenda (Benjamin) Miller of Chesapeake, VA; the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Joshua, Seth, and Lance Guthrie, Jennifer Luallen, Jessica Mickey, Ashley Miller, and Megan Miller; his step-grandchildren, Travis Guy, Leontin (Tyler) McGee; his great-grandchildren, Meridith, Ava, Charlotte, Creed, and two step-great grandchildren, RyLynn McGee and Ezra McGee; his siblings, James (Frances) Guthrie, and Melody White; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his brother, Everett E. Guthrie Jr. and his daughter-in-law, Debbie Guthrie; and a brother-in-law, Jerry White.

Visitations will be 4 to 7 pm on Monday, December 20, 2021 and 10 to noon on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls, where funeral services will be held at 12 pm on Tuesday. Pastor Karen Osborn will officiate the service. Gary will be laid to rest in Duncan Falls Cemetery with full military Honors provided by George Selsam Post #1058, American Legion Post #29 and the US Navy Color Guard.
