| About | Gerald "Jerry" Evan Swope, 77, of Zanesville, passed away unexpectedly at 6:47 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2009 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born November 12, 1931 at Dresden, Ohio. He retired from Roekel Company and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Zanesville High School and an avid golfer. He was a committed husband, loving father, doting grandfather and a friend who lit up a room with his contagious smile. He will be missed and always loved. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Kiener Swope whom he married June 28, 1958; son, Brad (Teresa) Swope of Zanesville; daughters, Susan (Scott) Williams of Pottsville, PA, and Jennifer Federman of Gahanna; brothers, Carroll of Zanesville, Dale of Pennsylvania, and Paul of Florida; grandchildren, Alex Federman, Danny Federman, Sarah Williams, and Colin Williams. He was preceded by his parents, Kenneth and Clairbel West Swope; and a brother, Kenneth Swope. Private services will be held at the request of the family, V.F.W. George Selsam Post 1058 will conduct Military rites at the graveside and interment will be at Memorial Park. DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home is assisting the Swope Family. |
