| About | Gloria J. (Brown) Frame (1928-2024), age 96 of Victor, New York passed away June 24, 2024 under the care of UR Medicine Hospice at Penfield Place Nursing Home in Penfield, New York. Previously of Zanesville, Ohio and The Nottingham in Jamesville, New York, she had resided with her daughter and son-in-law for six years in Victor, later moving to Heathwood Assisted Living, followed recently by Penfield Place. She died from complications of Lewy Body Dementia. Gloria was born June 21, 1928 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late James T. and Grace A. (Hooper) Brown. She was the youngest of four daughters. She graduated from Lash High School in 1946 and married her high school sweetheart Harry (Red) L. Frame. Together, they raised a family and built a business, Red Frame’s Auto Service, of which she was bookkeeper for over 40 years. Shortly after her marriage, Gloria had the distinction of becoming the first left-handed long distance switchboard operator for Ohio Bell Telephone Company, a job she proudly enjoyed for several years. In the 1970s she returned to the workforce, serving as a caseworker at Muskingum County Department of Human Services for 14 years. Simultaneously, she started college, attending Ohio University at Zanesville. Gloria was a kind, gentle and loving person, devoted to her family, pets, friends and neighbors. She participated in a variety of organizations including Y-City Women’s Club, Coburn Methodist Church, Munson School PTA, Falls Township Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, Westgate Neighborhood Association, and Muskingum County Mental Health Hotline. She also served as Judge at the election polls in Zanesville. She eagerly pursued a variety of lifelong interests, including new technology, music, current events, fashion, reading, pets, camping, nature, Hummel figurines, jewelry, and movies. She enjoyed travel and visited 20 states and Canada. Every night in the early 2000s, she took great pleasure in feeding a dozen peanut butter and banana sandwiches to raccoons in her wooded backyard, probably to the chagrin of her neighbors. She amazed people by her capable use of WebTV, personal computer, and iPhone to email, participate in Facebook, search the web, text, photograph, and make calls until age 94. She loved talking and spending time with family, friends, and neighbors. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her loving family including daughter, Cynthia F. (Bruce) Bongarten of Victor, granddaughter Megan B. (Dr. Mark) Williams, and three great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Emelia, and James Williams of Pittsford, New York. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Camilla Wilson, and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Harry (Red) Frame in 2009, and her sisters Grace Ankrum, Viola Shrider, and Verna McFerren. Her family wishes to thank all the carers who made Gloria’s life better at Heathwood Assisted Living, Penfield Place Nursing Home, and UR Medicine Hospice. We are especially grateful for the service of Drs. Bobby Young, Ronald Harvey, Seth Kronenberg, Megan Lyons, Mary Bonnet, and Ruth Schneider, and Nurse Practitioners Sharon Billings and Melissa Pullin. Heartfelt appreciation goes to special friend Vanetta Parshall of East Rochester and Ann Marie Hurley of Hurley Care Solutions, as well as the kind helpful neighbors on Dunzweiler Drive, and many others too numerous to name. There will be a private scattering of ashes at Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date |
