About | Harold Rodney (Rod) Chapin, age 72, of Zanesville, Ohio, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday June 19, 2009 at the Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born January 18, 1937 in Zanesville the son of the late Harold Albert and Madge Elizabeth Barrett Chapin. Rod was a sales person and manager at the Fink's Harley Davidson at the location of Blue Ave. and I 70. In his earlier years he was employed by the City of Zanesville, Department of Public Safety/Division of Police October 1, 1959 to December 22, 1965; United Technologies Automotive Inc./Automotive Products Division; Peoria AZ. Police Department; and the Arizona Public Service Company. He was a member of the NRA qualifying as a police expert. Rod graduated from Zanesville High School June 4, 1954. He is a member of the Harley Owners Group, Masonic Lodge of Amity # 5 F & AM, National Rifle Assoc. Of America, Valley of Cambridge, Zanesville Rifle Assoc. and the Buckeye State Sheriffs' Assoc. Rod was a Navy veteran 1954 to 1962. Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Bush of the home, married October 28, 1994; one daughter, Tina (Randy) Sims of Zanesville; three sons, Stephen (Cindy) Chapin of Zanesville, Douglas (Brenda) Chapin of Oden Ind., and Tim Chapin of FL; several grandchildren. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold military services at the gravesite. |
