About | Harry L. Heim, age 89, of Columbus died August 30, 2012 at Ohio State University Medical Center. Harry was a graduate of Zanesville High School and The Ohio State University where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and a Lifetime Member of The Ohio State University Alumni Association. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean conflict. In WWII he was the pilot of a B-24 Liberator, 98th Bomb Group, 15th Air Force stationed in Italy where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal. Harry was a member of East Side Grace Brethren Church, Amity Lodge #5 of Zanesville, Scottish Rite, Aladdin Temple Shrine, and Sons of the American Revolution. He was a retired Vice President of Lazarus Department Stores where he worked for over 40 years. In 1985 he was the recipient of the Man of the Year Award, Cosmetic Industry, from the City of Hope. Harry was a lifelong avid supporter of The Ohio State athletics. Preceded in death by parents Howard and Helen Heim. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Sybil Duffy Heim; and their children, Ann Heim Hilgeman and her husband Donald and their children, Matthew, Timothy (Paige), and Melissa; Jeffrey Duffy Heim and his wife Karen and daughter Karleigh Zoruba (David); and Christopher Rawlins Heim and his wife Lisa and their twin sons Casey and Calvin. Four great granddaughters and three great grandsons also survive, Hannah, Hunter, Evie, Annie, and Oliver Hilgeman, and Beau and Kateigh Zoruba. All of his grandchildren affectionately called him "Bo". Family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, September 4 at East Side Grace Brethren Church, 7510 E. Broad St., Blacklick, OH 43004. Funeral service will be at 10 am on Wednesday, September 5 at East Side Grace Brethren Church with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. |
