SAN JOSE, CA: Harry Llewellyn Warne, 96, of San Jose, CA 95120, formerly of 107 Yoha Dr., Mansfield, Ohio, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on February 11, 2015 following a brief illness.Harry was born in Zanesville Ohio, January 1, 1919 to Hattie May Warne (Stockdale) and Harry Llewellyn Warne. He graduated from Zanesville High School. He married Harriet V. Hazen also of Zanesville, Ohio on March 21, 1942.Following graduation from High School he enlisted in the Army Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in 1942 and served in the Asian Pacific Theatre. He earned an honorable discharge from the 565th Army Air Forces in October of 1945 at which point he moved back to Ohio. He and Harriet located in Mansfield where he began his career as a Tool and Die Maker at Barnes Manufacturing later moving to join Therm O Disc Manufacturing (Emerson Electric) from which he retired. While in Ohio he was an active member of The First United Methodist Church, Mansfield Sailing Club, Snow Trails Ski Area where he served over 10 years as a US Ski Patrol and Sandusky Sailing Club. He also was an Extra Class HAM radio operator (WF8J). He was active with the Amateur Radio Emergency Services group in the Mansfield Area. In 2004 he moved to San Jose, California with his wife of 62 years Harriet. There he was active at Almaden Hills United Methodist Church.Harry is survived by son, Bradley Hazen Warne, San Jose, CA; daughter-in-law, Penny Bohart Warne, San Jose, CA; granddaughters, Jillian L. Walsh, Silver Springs, MD, Stephanie M. Warne, San Jose, CA; nieces, Dixie (Hazen) Brannon, Zanesville, OH, Sue (Kendall) Black, Morehead, KY, Ann (Kendall) Sparrow, Springfield, OH, Karen (Warne) Russell, Detroit, MI; and nephew, Thomas Kendall, Springfield, OH.He was predeceased by his wife, Harriet V. Warne, December 2004; a brother, Herman S. Warne, Detroit MI; sisters, Olga Crown, Katherine Beurhaus, Martha Waters, Emily Kendall all of Zanesville, OH; niece, Carla (Waters) McKown, nephew, James Waters, both from Zanesville, OH, and nephew, Steven Kendall, Springfield, OH.Friends and family may call from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio, 43701, with Rev. Joy French officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Harriet at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville, with full military honors being presented by the United States Army in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058. |
